OK...I'm behind in my posting but I'll catch up. So much to do, so little time!
It's obvious there's quite a rivalry between Oxford and Cambridge Universities. We were fortunate enough to be able to witness the annual boat race between the schools as it was held fairly close to our B & B.
We found a very nice restaurant with a large glassed-in patio overlooking the Thames and had a great English dinner while waiting for the race to start. We were able to watch the preliminaries and the start of the race (up river a bit) on the "telly" in the restaurant until the boats came into sight. Then everyone in the restaurant stepped outside to join the cheering and revelry for the 2 minutes it took for the racers to pass us by. It was quite festive and we cheered for ??? (whoever was in the lead).

Oxford won the 155th Boat Race by three-and-a-half lengths in a time of 17 mins 0 secs. We had a great day taking part in a good meal, nice wine and an annual British tradition.
