A one-day, whirlwind visit to Paris turned out to be a great adventure! Since my travel partner hadn't been before, we hit the main tourist spots, but didn't waste time standing in lines or taking the Metro. We walked.....almost EVERYWHERE!
The day began with a 6:55 am departure from London on the EuroStar, through the Chunnel, arriving in Paris 2.5 hours later. The train was a great way to go...comfy seats and breakfast too!

Once in Paris we visited Notre Dame, then walked along the banks of the Seine to the great glass pyramid of the Louvre, taking photographs all the way. After visiting the public areas and gift shop at the Louvre (no time to really go inside), we continued the walk through the Tuileries garden which, I found out, was started by Catherine de Medici, then up the Champs d'Elysees where a glass of wine and some onion soup was in order.

After being refreshed by lunch, we had the energy to visit the Arch de Triomphe and, of course, the Eiffel Tower. I found out that the tower is painted
by hand once every seven years and this was one of those years!
By this time we were quite tired and chose a boat cruise on the Seine to return to the other end of the city to catch our train back to London. All in all...a terrific day!
