A boat ride on the Thames on another sunny London day gave us a river view look at some of the sights before dropping us off East of London in Greenwich, home of the Royal Observatory and the Prime Meridian.
A pub lunch was in order before climbing the hill (it's a BIG hill) to the Observatory to "see" the Meridian.
For anyone who's forgotten their schooling on this (like I did), the imaginary line going through Greenwich is the Prime Meridian of the world, Longitude Zero. Every place around the globe is measured East or West from this line (longitude), just as they are measured North or South of the Equator (latitude).
Anyway, they have a steel strip on the ground to represent the Meridian and, if you fight the crowds, you can stand with one foot in the East and one in the West.
An ice cream cone was in order to fortify us for a quick trip through Greenwich Market and the trip back to the B & B.
