Hampstead Heath

OK...so what's a "heath"? I didn't know so I looked it up. The dictionary definition is "an extensive tract of uncultivated open land covered with herbage and low shrubs; a moor." There happens to be a heath in the lovely village neighborhood of Hampstead which is set in the hills North of London, hence the name Hampstead Heath.

We spent a leisurely Sunday in Hampstead and took a walking tour of the area where we learned that Hampstead was once home to artists, poets, playwrights, etc. The village feels totally different from The City...it has great little pathways and courtyards which suggest a more laid-back way of life...definitely less hustle and bustle!

Of course it had a very nice pub there that served as a good place for lunch after the walk. We were joined by one of the other members of the tour, a young woman from Germany who was also into photography. Good discussion, good food, good day!
