Good Morning from Chiswick (a charming suburb of London along the Thames)!

Arrival is England was uneventful and we were greeted by sunshine...at least for part of the day.

Our B & B lodging, a 100 year old row house, is most charming. It's decor is a combination of whimsical Victorian and British practicality. The "conservatory" (a large glass room) overlooks the quite large backyard which is teaming with Spring flowers...pansies and daffodils everywhere!

Once oriented, we set out to explore the neighborhood and to find the walks along the nearby Thames River. The neighborhoods along the river were quite upscale and sprinkled with interesting private gardens with weeping willow trees and flowers. Here, forsythias and camellias were abundant.

Eventually, a visit to one of the pubs was in order. The visit made me change my opinion of "pubs", which I've always thought of (being American, I suppose) as bars. I was told that local pubs in England were thought of more as "living rooms" for houses in the neighborhood where people brought or met their friends to eat, drink and socialize. In any case, the one we visited was very comfortable with a combination of tables with vases of flowers and upholstered, overstuffed furniture.

Our first photography walk is scheduled for tomorrow. I hope the weather holds.
